Job Description

We are seeking a Flight Operations Engineer to act as a subject matter expert supporting engineering initiatives that drive operational improvements, cost savings, and ensure safety and compliance across Alaska Air Group fleets. This role focuses on analyzing fleet performance, optimizing fuel efficiency, and enhancing operational capabilities by evaluating improvements to route structures and performance. The engineer will support cost-saving initiatives like fuel burn reduction, monitor fleet health, analyze weight and balance systems, and assist with FAA manual updates. This individual will also collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and industry partners while ensuring all work aligns with safety policies and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

4+ years of engineering or related experience
Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR Parts 25, 36, 91, and 121)
Proficiency with data analysis tools, including databases and spreadsheets
Experience with aircraft weight & balance concepts and methodologies
Familiarity with OEM performance documentation and analysis tools
Experience using takeoff, climb, and landing performance programs
Knowledge of FAA Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) and Weight & Balance Manual (WBM)
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and safety mindset
Experience with database design and development
Background in programming or office automation
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies
