Job Description
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support the modernization of a critical enterprise messaging platform. This application supports both internal and external users and processes sensitive, export-controlled data, requiring a highly experienced and detail-oriented engineer.
This role will focus on addressing technical debt within a heavily legacy Java environment, modernizing core components while maintaining system stability. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working with enterprise Java applications built on older technology stacks and have successfully led or contributed to large-scale modernization efforts.
You will partner closely with a Technical Architect and play a key role in upgrading the application’s underlying technologies, improving performance, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
Pay Range fall from $60-$67/hr

Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of enterprise Java development experience
Strong experience working in legacy environments (Java 8 or earlier)
Hands-on experience modernizing or upgrading Java applications
Strong experience with Spring Framework (enterprise web applications)
Experience working within MVC architecture, JSP/Servlet-based applications
Experience with SQL-heavy applications and modernizing to ORM tools (Hibernate/JPA)
Strong understanding of SDLC practices, including:
Agile methodologies
Git/version control
Deployments and release management
Ability to work independently and lead technical modernization efforts
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with LDAP or directory services modernization
Experience re-architecting legacy services into microservice-based solutions
Exposure to messaging systems or data processing (ETL pipelines)
Experience in regulated or secure environments
