Remote Sr. Laravel Engineer

We’re partnering with an early-stage startup building a next-generation, AI-powered sales platform designed to automate and orchestrate the end-to-end sales process. The product leverages a Laravel-based application layer alongside a containerized Python AI service, with a strong focus on speed, accuracy, and high-quality responses. This is a high-impact, 100% remote direct hire opportunity for a Sr. Laravel Engineer. We’re looking for someone with experience developing sales CRM or sales workflow systems, with a strong background in asynchronous processing and queuing. Expertise with Laravel Horizon for managing email, SMS, and message queues is critical. You’ll also work with Laravel, Next.js, APIs, and webhooks, and any exposure to Python or AI is a plus.
In this role, you will:
• Design and build core backend systems that power the sales automation platform
• Develop scalable functionality using PHP/Laravel, with a focus on high-volume asynchronous workflows
• Manage background jobs, queues, and event-driven processes supporting email and SMS automation
• Integrate with external systems such as Salesforce and HubSpot via APIs and webhooks
• Architect systems to handle heavy load, including queue strategies, retries, and failure handling
• Partner with technical leadership to improve performance, reduce bottlenecks, and evolve overall architecture
• Contribute to engineering standards and help guide technical decisions across the team

4-5+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer working with Laravel
4+ years of professional experience working with Next.JS
4+ years of experience with message, email queues, and/or SMS queues – inbound and outbound experience with messages that need processing and scaling up queues
3+ years of queuing experience with Laravel Horizon preferred; Amazon SQS, Redis Queue
Professional experience working as a developer on a CRM or a Sales Workflow Systems: Salesforce, Microsoft D365 Sales, Oracle Sales Cloud, Hubspot, Zoho, Pipedrive, Monday, Zendesk Sell, Close CRM, Salesflare, Freshsales, Keap, Apptivo, Active Campaign, Salesloft, Outreach, Twilio, Intercom, Zapier or similar; understanding of lead lifecycle, pipelines and opportunities, and sales engagement logic
Experience with integrations, APIs, and Webhooks
Eagerness to work at a startup with opportunity to grow, take ownership, but has flexibility from a working hours landscape
