Job Description
Insight Globals client, a technical consulting company, is seeking to hire a Mainframe Developer to support and enhance an active state eligibility platform. This role focuses on maintaining mission critical systems that determine public benefit eligibility. The developer will work within an ongoing project and collaborate with state and vendor teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily operations of a state eligibility mainframe application
Develop, modify, and maintain COBOL programs and batch processes
Analyze eligibility business rules and translate them into technical logic
Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis
Support scheduled batch cycles and time sensitive processing windows
Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and defect remediation
Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and infrastructure teams
Ensure compliance with state security, audit, and data standards
Document technical designs, program logic, and operational procedures
pay range: $40-50/hr

Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience with COBOL in an IBM zOS environment
Hands on experience with JCL for batch job execution
Working knowledge of CICS and online transaction processing
Experience with DB2 or IMS databases
Familiarity with mainframe utilities and debugging tools
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Prior experience with state eligibility systems or human services platforms
Knowledge of public assistance programs such as Medicaid or SNAP
Experience working on long running modernization or enhancement projects
Exposure to data interfaces and file transfers between systems
