Job Description
A local utility client is seeking an BI Engineer to play a critical role in advancing and modernizing their enterprise data environment, with a strong focus on the Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI). This individual will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable data solutions that support both operational reporting and strategic decision-making across the business. The role sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and infrastructure modernization, requiring a mix of hands-on development expertise and the ability to support large-scale migration efforts, including SQL Server and operating system upgrades. This person will help drive improvements in data quality, accessibility, and performance, while also partnering closely with business stakeholders to translate evolving requirements into actionable insights. Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience with SQL Server (T-SQL, performance tuning, data warehousing)
• Hands-on SSIS (ETL development)
• Experience with SSAS (tabular preferred)
• Advanced Power BI experience (DAX, modeling, reporting)
• Experience with SQL Server and/or OS migrations
Solid understanding of data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Azure DevOps (CI/CD, version control, deployments)
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms or modernization efforts
Exposure to data pipeline automation / deployment best practices
