Job Description

You will join a growing accounting team to support the development of systems, processes, policies, and procedures to support the launch and growth of a non-profit network of tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in underserved communities. You will report to the Controller and will be responsible for day-to-day operations of accounting processes and procedures including end-to-end general ledger accounting, fixed asset, leasing, tax, and completing the monthly close and accounting reporting deliverables. You will assist with technical accounting research for US GAAP and tax-related matters and support with preparation of external reporting. You will assist in creating and maintaining accounting policies and procedures that support a strong internal control environment. You will also be hands-on in improving current systems and solving challenges related to future system and process design. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics + CPA Certification
• Five years of progressive accounting experience, with at least two years of public accounting experience
• Experience managing the full monthly close process, including reconciliations and financial reporting
• Experience and proficiency at researching technical accounting and tax matters
History of working in an accounting function in a fast-growing, dynamic work environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with preparing Form 990 and not-for-profit accounting and tax
• Ability to translate business objectives into financial data structures used to support measurement of performance, with a keen eye for simplification
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
• Demonstrated ability to implement required accounting systems, policies, and processes
• Experience supporting implementation of Netsuite, Concur, or other ERPs
Track record of designing, rationalizing, implementing, and documenting internal controls
