Job Description: This position will be responsible to participate in the design and execution of engineering efforts to support the construction of aluminum and steel vessels
Direct engineering and technical aspects of projects and conduct/review regulatory calculations and reports
Perform essential system and component design calculations and draft/review regulatory drawings
Design or evaluate vessel mechanical systems, including models and material lists as well as draft or review regulatory drawing
Execute and review 3D modeling tasks.
Generate CNC parts.
Develop construction drawings and material lists.
Lead or participate in design reviews.
Facilitate communication between departments to resolve issues.
Resolve design challenges with subcontractors and staff.
Manage Ship Constructor and SolidWorks models.
Establish engineering standards and procedures.
Prepare and review customer documentation..
Mentor engineering staff.
Coordinate engineering deliverables.
Support estimators during planning.
*Participate in sea trials.

Very strong computer skills and experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, Ship Constructor and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred.
Experience must include good working knowledge of design spiral, vessel arrangements, structural, electrical, mechanical and outfit details.
Capable of clear effective communications, creative problem solving, and working well with others of all levels of authority and technical knowledge.
Capable of writing reports, technical proposals and business correspondences.
Must be highly organized and have excellent documentation skills.
Must be able to utilize previous experience and industry knowledge to identify obstacles and design challenges to facilitate ease of construction.
Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) concepts and systems preferred.
* Knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) concepts and systems preferred.
