Job Description

A large, North American, retail company is seeking an Azure Data Engineer in Seattle, WA. This role is a hybrid position and requires 3 days onsite/week in Downtown Seattle. You will be joining a team that works heavily with customer data - owning the customer data pipelines that gather data coming from multiple sources and consolidating that data for different use cases. Some use cases include segmentation, data and analytics, advanced analytics for ML models to generate product recommendations, etc. You will have a strong knowledge of the Azure infrastructure and can build Azure pipelines. You will make general recommendations to the client on how to improve the current infrastructure. This role is not tied to a certain body of work, rather, you will support multiple work streams and work with the Product teams to prioritize. You will work closely with other data engineers, analysts, data scientists and marketers to build out new capabilities. The solutions you build will involve large datasets and system integrations in cloud environments.
Technical leadership for the expansion and optimization of data collection and data pipeline architecture.
Subject matter expert in development and integration with Web Services and APIs.
Monitor and support data pipelines and ETL workflows.
Cloud (Azure) infrastructure administration: network configurations, access and permissions, cloud services.
Oversee, participate in and manage production deployments.
Interface with global vendor and internal teams.
Ensure cloud environment reliability, availability, performance and security.
Define and implement monitoring and alerting for cloud infrastructure and applications.
Coordinate recovery from incidents utilizing well defined operational procedures, tools, and efficient communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Actively use and suggest improvements to continuous delivery toolset.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years' experience with database engineering - building out and deploying pipelines, ideally working with customer data.
2+ years experience working with Azure applications (Azure Data Factory, Azure Batch, Azure SQL Server, Azure Data Warehouse, Azure Databricks etc.) and building out Azure pipelines.
2+ years; experience working with Azure Databricks.
1+ year of experience working in an Agile environment.
2+ years' experience with Snowflake.
2+ years' experience with Python, PySpark & SQL.
2+ years' experience with infrastructure administration.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Retail and/or e-commerce background; experience working for a multi-channel retailer.
Interest in and/or working experience with big data pipelines (Spark, Azure ML Studio, etc.).
Exposure to digital marketing and/or digital marketing platforms (email platforms, integrations with Google marketing platform, etc.).
