An employer is looking for an Operations Technician in the Bellevue, WA area. This company is the world's largest developer and manufacturer of products for the measurement of salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, nutrients and related oceanographic parameters in marine waters. They offer products to support best-in-class oceanography and climate science. The purpose of this role is to provide high quality repair and preventative maintenance services and assemble new instruments for this company's equipment.
The Operation Technician utilizes an advanced understanding of electronic theory and mechanical aptitude to assemble, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and components. An Operation Technician will also identify process inefficiencies, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions leading to continuous improvement. This position may involve mentoring and guidance of other Operation Technician associates. Operation Technicians have developed technical skills, leadership skills, and behaviors that drive continuous improvement within themselves and the service department.
Essential functions will include:
- Use, create, and maintain established work instructions to repair, test, verify and perform preventative maintenance for company equipment.
- Provide advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting of instrumentation in a structured and logical manner, and integrate any learnings into work instructions on multiple instrument platforms.
- Perform hydrostatic pressure tests and water bath testing, as required.
- Perform complex circuit board repairs that may include soldering, wiring, replacement of inoperative electrical and/or mechanical parts
- Help support a teamwork-oriented culture to ensure that all service to customer- or company-owned equipment is completed correctly according to specification, efficiently, and on time
- Quickly Cross-train on new tasks and new instrument families
- Use lean manufacturing concepts to help plan and execute continuous process improvements
- Document problems found and services performed following standard work protocols
- Coordinate efforts with other team members to meet daily, weekly and monthly targets and departmental goals
- Identify potential improvements to workflow or opportunities that benefit the customer
- Lead or co-lead Kaizen events to meet customer needs
- Perform pre-assembly quality check on all components
- Follow detailed assembly instructions in a variety of formats (i.e, drawings, schematics, bills of material, internal procedures or some combination thereof), and report work completed on a daily basis

Excellent mechanical aptitude with 2+ years of experience in electronic assembly, testing, manufacturing, or similar
Ability to read and interpret advanced drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Experience soldering (through-hole, surface mount, or wire splicing)
Experience with PCB / circuit boards
Able to problem solve, brainstorm, and provide corrective action
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members
Excellent attention to detail, and ability to perform precise procedures consistently
Ability to organize and manage time efficiently and effectively
Basic knowledge of necessary instruments and tools such as hand tools, test jigs, voltmeters and ohmmeters
Ability to learn and use scientific and/or plotting software
Experience with Microsoft Suite
Knowledge and experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
Experience with Oracle, and Workday
