Job Description
Come work for us as an environmental scientist or planner for water resources projects! Be part of a small team of environmental scientists and biologists who help our clients implement their projects in compliance with environmental regulations. We work primarily with federal clients on the West Coast clients (OR, WA, CA, and AK). Successful candidates will have a broad technical background in environmental science, environmental planning/impact assessment, and/or permitting, and will enjoy working on a variety of project types and resource areas. Experience with federal environmental regulations and planning processes is required.
In this role you will be responsible for preparing environmental documents including NEPA documents (CatEx's, EA's, and EIS's), wetland delineation reports, permit applications, Endangered Species Act documents (BA's, BE's, and no effect letters), and other related documents. You will manage and lead tasks associated with environmental projects, including assisting with developing proposals and cost estimates, executing project tasks, managing project budgets and forecasts, ensuring client satisfaction, and mentoring staff. You will direct and oversee NEPA projects, permitting, wetland delineations, resource analysis, agency coordination, and public outreach, as well as budget and project tracking. Additionally, you will work with environmental, regulatory and land use agencies to obtain permits and project approvals, such as: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and/or National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), state agencies, and local county and city planning departments. You will use GIS for mapping, collecting field data, and occasionally data analysis,
Manage multiple tasks and projects, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team setting. You will
research and interpret federal, state, and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, and interface with regulatory agencies.
Required Skills & Experience
* B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Marine Science, Geography, Biology, or related degree
* Experience with NEPA and SEPA compliant documents
* GIS experience
* Experience interfacing with clients during project execution to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.
* 7+ years related experience in a wide variety of technical areas, and potentially including experience with project management and leading / managing technical teams.
* Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental permitting regulations and processes.
* Ability to produce written reports and related documents that demonstrate solid technical writing and critical thinking capabilities.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent writing skills.
* Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to foster a positive work culture.

* Environmental consulting or agency experience.
* Experience with US army core of engineers
* PNW experience
* Interest in Business Development
* Willingness to perform occasional fieldwork and site visits, approximately 2-6 times per year. Experience using fieldwork equipment and software (GPS units, etc.).
* Experience with the resources and regulatory agencies in the Pacific Northwest and California, and federal agencies especially USACE and USCG.
* Willingness to work in the office or on a hybrid schedule is preferred, fully remote will be considered under certain circumstances.
