Job Description
Insight Global's client is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and enhance safety programs across a diverse portfolio of construction projects throughout the Hampton Roads region. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing safety initiatives, conducting site audits and training, responding to incidents, ensuring OSHA compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience supporting ground-up construction, civil construction, and maritime projects, along with a passion for employee development, safety training, and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide and project-specific safety programs.
Conduct routine jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, onboarding, and ongoing employee development initiatives.
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to ensure OSHA compliance and safe work practices.
Monitor subcontractor safety performance and compliance.
Maintain safety records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
Provide emergency response guidance and support as needed.
Supervise and mentor a Safety Technician while helping strengthen the organization's overall safety culture.

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of construction safety experience, including at least 3 years in a Safety Manager role.
Experience supporting ground-up construction projects.
Experience supporting civil construction projects.
Experience supporting maritime or marine construction projects.
Strong knowledge of OSHA construction regulations (29 CFR 1926).
OSHA Certifications.
CSP, CHST, or other advanced safety certifications.
Experience developing and implementing safety programs, training initiatives, and site-specific safety plans.
Experience leading incident investigations, hazard assessments, and corrective action plans.
Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, toolbox talks, and employee training.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach field personnel and influence a positive safety culture.
Ability to travel regularly between active construction sites within territory.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
CPR, First Aid, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and other related safety certifications.
Experience managing or mentoring safety personnel.
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience with workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
