Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a CAD Technician to join one of our large AEC clients in Mechanicsville, VA. This individual will support utility engineering and design projects by transforming survey data collected in the field into accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and maps. The CAD Technician will work closely with Survey Technicians, Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure utility infrastructure is documented accurately and in accordance with company and client standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret field-collected data, and proficiency in AutoCAD to create clear, high-quality deliverables for utility clients.
Responsibilities:
- Review survey data, field sketches, notes, and measurements provided by Survey Technicians.
- Create and update 2D utility maps, plans, and drawings using AutoCAD.
- Translate field-collected information into accurate digital representations of existing utility infrastructure.
- Draft utility features including electric, gas, water, sewer, telecommunications, and right-of-way elements.
- Maintain drawing standards, layer management, and drafting best practices in accordance with client requirements.
- Perform quality reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Coordinate with survey, engineering, and project teams to resolve discrepancies or missing information.
- Revise existing drawings based on updated survey data, project changes, or client feedback.
- Organize, manage, and maintain project files and drawing databases.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
Pay Rate Range: $25/hr.-$33/hr.
