Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a PFAS Technical Contractor (R Developer / Data Engineer) for a public sector environmental client. This individual will play a key role in building a data ingestion and analytics solution to support new legislative requirements that mandate large-scale environmental data collection by a firm deadline. The consultant will develop R-based tools, including Shiny applications and APIs, to manage and validate PFAS-related datasets. This role involves working closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders to transform complex environmental data into actionable insights, while ensuring systems are scalable, well-documented, and production ready. The ideal candidate thrives in an independent environment, has strong R and data engineering experience, and is comfortable working with modern and legacy data systems. The pay rate for this opportunity is $60-68.06/hr

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong R programming experience (3–5+ years)
• Experience writing R code for data management & validation logic
• ETL experience (Extract, Transform, Load)
• Experience building or maintaining Shiny applications
• Experience with Plumber APIs (R)
• Familiarity with Posit Connect / Posit Package Manager
• Data management expertise (data standards, validation, workflows)
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with ArcGIS / ArcGIS Online / Survey123
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments
• Strong documentation skills for production tools
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience working with PFAS data or analytical chemistry datasets
• Exposure to environmental or water quality data
• Experience with legacy data systems (if no Shiny experience)
• Survey123 hands-on use
• ArcGIS integrations with R workflows
