Job Description

Our client is looking for a Payroll Lead to sit hybrid Chantilly, VA. This individual will be responsible for:


Manage the end-to-end payroll processing utilizing payroll and HR systems (ADP Workforce Now and Workday) and soon to be using UKG
Provide leadership development to direct report(s) to optimize operational excellence and create experienced talent
Develop and maintain relationships with HR, Accounting, and FP&A teams throughout the payroll cycle
Strong knowledge of statutory and payroll tax regulations, working knowledge of payroll best practices and ensure compliance with internal policies
Function as a strategic partner and contribute process improvement for system implementations/upgrades
Create and maintain standard operating procedures and audits to ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to
Maintain accurate records and prepare weekly/monthly/yearly reports and compare the tax reports being prepared by the outside provider to the various state returns and make sure they tie out, etc.
Communicate well both verbally and in writing with all levels across the organization
Ability to analyze complex problems and deliver insightful, practical, and sustainable solutions
Maintain an eye for detail; demonstrate accuracy, and exercise confidentiality & neutrality in complex and sensitive situations
Resolve issues and answer payroll-related questions


Salary ranges from $85-95,000 based on experience

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in business/accounting or equivalent
FPC designation (Fundamental Payroll Certification)
3-5 years of direct payroll experience, ideally working with government customers
Experience running payroll for organizations with 400-1000 employees
Proven management/supervisory experience
