Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Systems Integration Engineer to support the development and deployment of a mission-critical Navy training and simulation system. This role is responsible for integrating complex software, infrastructure, and network components across Linux and Windows environments to ensure seamless system performance.

This individual will work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and test teams to deliver high-fidelity training capabilities used by both U.S. and allied military partners. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, technically strong in cross-platform environments, and experienced in troubleshooting and integrating multi-component systems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

-Lead the integration of software applications, system services, and infrastructure components across Linux and Windows environments
-Develop and execute integration strategies, plans, and workflows to support system deployments and upgrades
-Troubleshoot complex issues across software, operating systems, networking, and infrastructure layers
-Implement automation and scripting solutions using Python, Bash, PowerShell, and configuration management tools (Ansible/DSC)
-Support CI/CD processes and maintain version control across environments using tools like GitLab and Jenkins
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software development, systems engineering, networking, and cybersecurity
-Perform system testing, validation, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and mission readiness
-Support system deployments, installation events, and integration activities in lab and production environments
-Ensure systems meet security and compliance requirements, including secure configurations, patching, and vulnerability remediation
-Develop and maintain technical documentation including integration plans, runbooks, and system architecture details

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field + 9+ years of relevant experience
(OR Master’s + 7+ years, OR PhD + 4+ years, OR 13+ years without degree)
-Hands-on experience supporting both Linux and Windows environments (must be strong in Linux)
-Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell
-Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible or PowerShell DSC)
-Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, GitLab, Jenkins)
-Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing/switching)
-Experience integrating systems using APIs or messaging frameworks (REST, gRPC, or middleware)
-Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across software, OS, network, and infrastructure layers
-Experience supporting system integration, testing, and deployment in multi-component environments
-Familiarity with cybersecurity practices (secure configurations, certificates, vulnerability remediation)
-Active DoD Secret clearance required
-Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or CySA+) within 3 months of hire

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Experience with Cisco networking technologies (IOS/NX-OS, OSPF, BGP, ACLs, QoS)
-Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, or KVM)
-Experience working with containers such as Docker or Podman and exposure to Kubernetes concepts
-Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Splunk, ELK stack, Prometheus, Grafana)
-Experience working with message brokers such as ActiveMQ, Kafka, or RabbitMQ
-Exposure to DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs)
-Experience supporting shipboard environments or Navy training/simulation systems
-Familiarity with modeling and simulation systems or mission-critical defense platforms
-Experience with documentation and collaboration tools (Confluence, Markdown, Visio/Draw.io)
-Active IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+)
