Job Description

A client of Insight Global is hiring Corrosion Control Specialists in Norfolk, VA to support maintenance and preservation efforts on naval and commercial vessels.
This role is hands-on, focused on surface prep, coating application, and corrosion control across ship tanks, compartments, and hulls. Responsibilities include removing old coatings, prepping surfaces, and applying new coatings in line with NAVSEA standards and marine best practices.
You’ll also support confined space operations by monitoring personnel, maintaining communication, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role requires working from technical drawings, managing multiple priorities, and delivering quality work with minimal supervision.

$20/hr to $28/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in painting, coatings, or related trade
- Knowledge of surface prep and corrosion control methods
- Ability to remove coatings and prep various substrates
- Experience applying coatings to spec and passing inspections
- Familiarity with paint types and applications
- Ability to read technical drawings/manuals
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and safety support roles

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- 2+ years of corrosion control or industrial painting experience
- Shipyard, marine, or heavy industrial environment experience
- Knowledge of OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910, 1915, 1926)
- Familiarity with NAVSEA or SSPC standards
