Job Description
Our chemical manufacturing client is seeking a highly experienced Chemical Engineer or Chemist with deep expertise in reverse emulsion polymer manufacturing to support a critical quality initiative at our Suffolk, VA manufacturing site. This individual will serve as a subject-matter expert, partnering directly with plant leadership to diagnose and resolve persistent quality challenges within a reverse emulsion production line.
This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on root cause analysis, process evaluation, and expert recommendations. 3‑month SOW-based contract, with the potential for longer-term opportunity depending on fit and business need.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a technical SME for reverse emulsion polymer production
• Conduct detailed, on-site evaluation of manufacturing processes, specifically comparing performance across production lines producing the same product
• Identify potential sources of quality variation, including:
○ Process parameters
○ Raw materials
○ Equipment or tooling differences
○ Controls, procedures, or operating discipline
• Collaborate with plant engineers, operators, and quality teams to isolate the root cause of quality issues
• Provide actionable recommendations to stabilize and improve product quality
• Support implementation of corrective actions as needed
•Document findings and communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline
• 5–10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing
• Direct, hands-on experience with reverse emulsion systems (critical and non-negotiable)
• Strong background in manufacturing quality, process improvement, or troubleshooting
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience producing or supporting paper chemicals or polymer-based products
•Prior consulting or project-based troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing setting
