Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to support a federal program in Suffolk, VA.

-Lead and contribute to the development of high-quality, scalable software solutions supporting JLLIS
-Serve as the technical owner of the system, including architectural direction and design decisions
-Guide and mentor a team of developers and a QA engineer, fostering a collaborative and productive team culture
-Collaborate with project leadership and stakeholders to translate functional and operational needs into technical solutions
-Participate hands-on in the full software development lifecycle, from planning through deployment and sustainment
-Support upcoming architectural and search-related changes, including efforts related to Elasticsearch and MongoDB search
-Ensure adherence to best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and deployment
-Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while maintaining system reliability and performance
-Work closely with cross-functional teams and end-user representatives to ensure solutions meet mission needs

Compensation:

$40/hr to $43/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

-5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3 years with a Master’s degree, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
-Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
-Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
-Experience across the full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, deployment)
-Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) and familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence
-2+ years of technical leadership or team lead experience, including mentoring junior engineers
-Experience with MongoDB, including data modeling and performance considerations
-Experience with Elasticsearch, particularly during migrations or search platform transitions
-Experience migrating away from Elastic App Search or Enterprise Search
-Familiarity with React and full-stack application development
-Experience with Node.js and backend API development
-Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments
-Experience working in Linux-based development environments
-Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
-Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical systems
