Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a TS/SCI Systems Engineer II to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. This team focuses on making sure many different simulation software tools and hardware systems can talk to each other securely across multiple classification levels. They integrate, control, and maintain TS simulation environments, with a heavy emphasis on interoperability, cross‑domain data sharing, and reliable system performance. The work is about keeping complex, distributed simulation environments running smoothly, securely, and in sync during testing and operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Support the integration and deployment of federation components within the TS enclave, including protocol bridging, simulation control, and data interoperability tools.
• Engineer, configure, and maintain systems supporting simulation services such as:
o High Level Architecture (HLA) federation communication
o Simulation display and control systems
o Terrain and geospatial data services
• Assist in implementing and enhancing Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) to enable secure data exchange between TS and SIPR environments.
• Collaborate with development teams to adapt tools for TS compliance, including:
o Data tagging and labeling requirements
o Secure message protocols
o Required security banners and display controls
• Provide infrastructure engineering support for development, staging, and production TS environments, including system provisioning, configuration, and optimization.
• Support the standup, integration, and operational deployment of emerging capabilities from the development pipeline.
• Participate in DevSecOps processes, ensuring proper integration, testing, accreditation, and release of system updates.
• Work with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems meet RMF, STIG, and other security compliance requirements.
• Support test and evaluation activities, including system validation, performance testing, and interoperability assessments.
• Troubleshoot system issues across distributed environments and provide timely resolution.
• Document system configurations, architectures, and operational procedures.

Compensation:

$48/hr to $52hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• Exceptional communication skills, with proven ability to coordinate with senior government officials, military personnel, and other technical teams.
• Strong ability to navigate complex, high stakes environments while maintaining a focus on timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions to complex operational training challenges.
• Experience with distributed systems and networked environments.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulation environments and architectures (HLA or similar frameworks).
• Experience working in secure or classified environments.
• Understanding of DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, including system hardening and secure configuration.
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows server environments.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting Joint Live Virtual Constructive (JLVC) or similar DoD simulation federations.
• Familiarity with HLA RTI implementations and federation management.
• Experience with cross-domain technologies and data transfer solutions.
• Knowledge of simulation tools such as JSPA, JTT SIM, RTI-S, JTDS OBS, or terrain/geospatial systems.
• Experience implementing data tagging, multi-level security (MLS), or information assurance controls.
• Background in infrastructure engineering (on-prem, hybrid, or cloud in classified environments).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with automated testing and deployment tools within DevSecOps pipelines.
• Experience supporting test and evaluation events in a simulation or defense environment.
• Relevant certifications (Security+, CISSP, AWS, Kubernetes, or similar).
