Job Description

A client of Insight Global's is seeking a Software Release Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of software and data platform releases within a cloud‑based Health IT environment. This role functions as a release manager / DevOps execution lead, ensuring that deployments across development, test, and production environments are reliable, repeatable, and well‑coordinated.
This position does not own system architecture or technical design. Instead, it focuses on release discipline, CI/CD execution, environment consistency, dependency management, and automation, working in close partnership with engineering, QA, and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Release & Deployment Management

Plan, coordinate, and execute end‑to‑end release activities for software and data platform components.
Manage releases across multiple environments (Dev / Test / Prod), ensuring consistency and repeatability.
Coordinate deployment readiness with Development, QA/Test, Infrastructure, Security, and Operations teams.
Facilitate release planning, go/no‑go decisions, and post‑release validation.

CI/CD & Automation

Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting cloud‑based systems used for data processing and storage.
Support automated deployment of Azure services, including serverless and data platform components (e.g., Synapse, ADLS).
Assist with automating QA/testing processes, particularly for data transformations and pipeline execution.
Identify opportunities to reduce manual steps and improve release reliability through automation.

Environment & Dependency Management

Manage and document dependencies between services, data pipelines, and infrastructure components.
Identify and troubleshoot issues caused by environment differences between Dev, Test, and Prod.
Support rollback strategies and deployment recovery when releases fail or behave unexpectedly.

Infrastructure as Code / Configuration as Code

Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC) practices to manage cloud resources.
Work with tools and frameworks that support versioned, repeatable infrastructure and configuration changes.
Ensure infrastructure and configuration changes are tracked, auditable, and aligned with release processes.

Communication & Coordination

Serve as a central coordination point between product owners, engineers, QA, and operations.
Communicate release scope, status, risks, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders.
Maintain release documentation, artifacts, and audit‑ready records.
