Job Description

A defense electronics organization is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support its Space Electronic Systems (SES) division, which develops advanced embedded systems and space‑qualified electronics for the DoD, Intelligence Community, and civil space customers. In this role, the Sr. Project Engineer will serve as the technical execution lead for engineering programs, owning project planning, requirements decomposition, and day‑to‑day execution across electrical, mechanical, and embedded software teams.

The ideal candidate brings a strong embedded systems or electrical engineering background, understands the full hardware development lifecycle, and can translate system‑level requirements into clear scopes of work, schedules, and deliverables.
This position bridges technical leadership and project execution, ensuring engineering work is properly scoped, tracked, and delivered efficiently while maintaining technical rigor and engineering best practices.

This is a full time hybrid position in Fairfax, VA, Littleton, CO or Concord, NH. With work from home options 1 or 2 days per week. This position is offering a salary range of $136,000 - $157,000. If interested please apply!

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years
- Strong background in embedded systems or electrical engineering, with hands‑on experience across the hardware development lifecycle
- 4+ years of experience with embedded systems development, including PCB design, hardware bring‑up, and electronic manufacturing
- 2+ years of experience in a project engineering or technical leadership role, with demonstrated ability to scope work, manage execution, and drive engineering teams
- Experience using JIRA or similar tools for sprint planning and execution
- Proven ability to understand, decompose, and execute complex technical requirements

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- PMP or PE certification
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
- Experience working on space‑based systems or within the aerospace/defense industry
