Job Description

A defense electronics organization is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to support its Space Electronic Systems (SES) division specifically their ICS Business Unit. This role is a hands on technical leadership position focused on embedded software and firmware development for space electronics payloads. The Sr. Project Engineer will partner closely with the Program Manager to drive end to end execution across the software development lifecycle, from requirements definition and project planning through sprint execution, delivery, and customer acceptance. This individual will lead agile delivery for the program, ensuring teams are operating efficiently, risk are understood and mitigated, and customer commitments are met.

This role requires a strong software engineering background with the ability to understand and assess technical risk, support engineering decision-making, and dynamically allocate resources as program needs evolve. The Sr. Project Engineer uses Jira and Confluence to manage projects, track progress, and provide visibility to leadership and customers, while fostering continuous improvement in agile processes


This is a full time hybrid position in Fairfax, VA, Littleton, CO or Concord, NH. With work from home options 1 or 2 days per week. This position is offering a salary range of $136,000 - $157,000. If interested please apply!

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in an agile software environment, or 10+ years of equivalent experience
- Strong software engineering background, with experience supporting or developing embedded systems
- Experience with embedded software (C/C++) and/ or firmware development (FPGA,VHDL preferred)
- Proven experience running agile processes for technical development teams*
- Hands on experience using Atlassian Jira and Confluence
- Background in Aerospace, space, or defense industries*
Proven leadership ability

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Agile or Scrum certifications (CSM, SAFe, or similar)
- Experience supporting DoD or similarly regulated environments
Exposure to FPGA or VHDL
