Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Materials Analytical Technician to help support a client on-site in Lynchburg, VA. This position supports an innovation‑focused research and development organization working on advanced nuclear and energy technologies for space, defense, and commercial applications. The Materials Characterization Analytical Technician is responsible for performing materials characterization and analytical testing on samples from a wide range of R&D and prototype production programs. The role involves close collaboration with materials and chemical engineers to identify and apply appropriate analytical techniques that provide critical, objective data to support research activities. In addition, the technician supports laboratory operations by assisting with facility build‑out, equipment commissioning, safety documentation, and the maintenance of accurate laboratory records, while also contributing to the development of standard test methodologies and mentoring peers as needed. Salary ranges from $75k-90K.

Required Skills & Experience

An associate’s degree in the technical field of study (e.g. Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Nuclear Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Physics, Chemistry etc.)
A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required
Strong understanding in the characterization of inorganics materials (nuclear materials, metals, ceramics, composites)
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task are required.
Experience in performing characterization under an ISO or NQA-1 quality program
This is an in-person position that work 9-80s
