Secret AI Software Engineer I

Insight Global is looking for an Engineer Software I to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA.

Essential Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Architect Agentic Systems: Lead the design and implementation of autonomous multi-agent workflows. Define patterns for reasoning loops, tool-calling strategies, and sophisticated long-term memory architectures.
• Scale Cloud-Native Infrastructure: Architect and oversee the deployment of scalable microservices in Kubernetes. Ensure the system remains robust and performant as agent complexity increases.
• Drive AI Engineering Excellence: Establish the team's LLM evaluation (evals) strategy. Lead parameter tuning and prompt engineering efforts to ensure high-fidelity, safe, and accurate agent outputs.
• Modernize Developer Experience: Integrate advanced AI-driven development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) into the development lifecycle and build CI/CD pipelines to maintain the team’s software.
• Technical Leadership: Translate high-level mission requirements into actionable technical roadmaps. Mentor junior engineers in distributed systems design and AI best practices.

Compensation:

$40/hr to $43hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

• 2 years experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
• Active Secret Clearance
• Backend Mastery: Deep expertise in building production-grade distributed systems using frameworks like Spring Boot or FastAPI.
• Cloud & Containers: Proven experience architecting applications within Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both in a team and individually
• Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail
• Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction
• Understanding of software development lifecycle

• AI/ML Specialization: Direct experience with autonomous agent architectures or building AI models.
• Advanced Infrastructure: Expertise with Helm and experience deploying scalable services.
• Data Strategy: Deep understanding of both relational (e.g. Postgres) and Vector databases (e.g. Pinecone, Milvus, etc.).
