Job Description

Insight Global's client is seeking a Tunnel QC Lead to oversee all quality activities for a tunnel expansion project in Hampton, VA.

They will manage inspectors, ensure compliance with project specifications, maintain quality documentation, and coordinate closely with engineering, construction, and project teams.

This role supports a large‑scale design‑build tunnel project and requires strong field presence, leadership, and technical expertise in heavy civil construction.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily QA/QC inspections for tunnel construction activities and verify work meets project specs, codes, and approved submittals.
- Manage and schedule a team of 5+ inspectors, providing direction, oversight, and technical guidance.
- Maintain and review all quality documentation, including daily reports, test results, NCRs, corrective actions, and ITPs.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues, review work plans, and support design‑build requirements.
- Identify and manage non‑conformances; drive corrective actions and ensure closeout of deficiencies.
- Review and oversee material testing, special inspections, and documentation for traceability and compliance.
- Prepare weekly quality reports, support audits, interface with client/owner reps, and ensure coverage during overtime/night/weekend operations as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years in QA/QC roles
Experience managing 5+ inspectors
2+ years working in/around tunnels
Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, documentation, and construction standards
Ability to work full‑time onsite, 50 hours/week, with overtime when needed

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

3+ years in a management role
Engineering degree preferred
P.E. license preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and team‑coordination abilities
Heavy civil/tunnel project oversight experience at a supervisory level
