Job Description

An Engineering Consultancy client in the Reston, VA is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join their team as a full-time employee. This resource will be responsible for leading and managing project scope. There will also be responsibilities dedicated to understanding and delivering on client needs. Other day to day responsibilities include:

- Manage all discipline aspects of projects from inception through execution
- Develop and document the scope of work
- Size and specify instrumentation including pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, modulating control valves, regulators, on/off valves, and actuators
- Create datasheets and work with vendors to get quotes for instrumentation and valves for various applications
- Coordinate with process engineering team to select the appropriate devices
- Create schematics, termination drawings, or loop sheets for instrument wiring
- Design custom control panels to meet the project need
- Understand project success criteria and ensure client expectations are met
- Develop and track project costs
- Identify, document, and communicate changes to scope
- Identify and effectively respond to clients' issues and needs
- Ensure value is provided to the client and develop & earn their trust

Required Skills & Experience

- B.S. degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in controls and instrumentation engineering (control panels, pressure and temperature transmitters, flow meters, modulating control valves, regulators, on/off valves, and actuators)
-Ability to travel to local client sites up to 25%
- Ability to support front-end engineering of up to $100M study phase, detailed design, construction support, check out and start-up

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley or Rockwell)
- EPC specific background
- AutoCAD design experience
