Overview:
Our top energy client in the Richmond, VA area is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Mechanical Designer to join their engineering team. This is a full-time, onsite position with the potential to convert to a permanent role based on performance and business needs. The ideal candidate will have foundational CAD skills and a strong interest in multidisciplinary design within industrial and energy environments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the creation and modification of mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural design drawings.
• Support engineering teams in drafting construction documents from concept through build.
• Apply standard building codes and design principles to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with engineers and other designers to meet project specifications and deadlines.
• Maintain organized documentation using Bentley ProjectWise and other project management tools.
Pay Range: $25/hr - $30/hr

Required Skills & Experience
• Beginner-level experience with:
o Bentley MicroStation CAD
o Autodesk AutoCAD
• Basic understanding of:
o Mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural design/drafting principles
o Applicable building codes for mechanical, structural, civil, and architectural disciplines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Interest in building and fabrication
• Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or production facilities
• Ability to produce construction drawings from concept to completion
• Familiarity with Bentley ProjectWise
• Knowledge of 3D CAD software
