Job Description

Insight Global's client is a data technology business specializing in the management, application, storage, and usage of business data. Partnering with various government departments to help business leaders obtain the key information and insights needed to guide their organizations to new accomplishments.

We're looking for a highly skilled Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Engineer to design, build, and maintain our core cloud infrastructure. This will support DHS CBP and you'll be the go-to expert for all things related to GCP's foundational services, ensuring our platform is scalable, secure, and reliable. If you have a deep knowledge of GCP's networking, storage, database and security features, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:
• Design and implement scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud.
• Manage core GCP services, including Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnets, firewalls, and routing tables.
• Configure and maintain GCP storage solutions like Cloud Storage, Filestore, and Persistent Disk.
• Oversee identity and access management (IAM) to ensure the principle of least privilege is applied.
• Manage and operate cloud-native database services such as Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and Bigtable, including performance tuning and high-availability configuration.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure costs.
• Manage container orchestration platforms such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure their applications have the necessary infrastructure resources.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.

Required Skills & Experience

- 8+ years of working with Cloud technologies
- 3+ years of experience working directly with applications or resources in Google Cloud, working with foundational GCP services, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and VPC.
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven experience as a Platform, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineer.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and VPNs within a cloud environment.
- Experience with infrastructure such as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience with scripting tools such as Bash and Python
- Experience with Git, GitLab, Jenkins or Harness
- Existing DHS/CBP BI or TS clearance
- Comfortable being hybrid onsite in Ashburn, VA

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- GCP certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect)
