Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial and contractual operations for our organization, based in Chesapeake, VA (this position is REMOTE but does require in office visits 3 times a month). This executive-level position plays a critical role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and supporting cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
The CFO will oversee budgeting, forecasting, audits, tax schedules, payroll, financial reporting, and compliance with FAR, DFARs, GAAP, and contract terms. This role also includes leadership of the finance department, supervision of team members, and collaboration with program managers and HR to maintain financial health and regulatory compliance.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (additional years of experience may substitute for degree)
- Minimum of 15 years of accounting experience
- At least 7 years in a managerial role
- Minimum of 5 years in government contracting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, and DFARs
Proven experience in:
Budget creation and expense tracking
Financial statement preparation and analysis
Tax schedule management and timely payments
Payroll processing and payroll tax submissions
Cash flow management
Audit leadership (DCAA, DCMA, external partners)
Internal controls and purchasing system compliance
Cost proposal pricing and approval
Contractual compliance and oversight
Insurance policy management and renewals
- Strong analytical and leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Must be able to communicate with supervisors when working remotely

Microsoft Business Central (user setup, updates, transaction processing)
