Job Description

A client in Dahlgren, VA, is seeking an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Test Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Electromagnetic & Sensor Systems Department. Candidate will support the test, evaluation & integration efforts of Navy electromagnetic and sensor systems. Candidate must have electromagnetic environment effects (E3) engineering knowledge to include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic interference (EMI), EMI/EMC testing & analysis, use of Radio Frequency (RF) equipment.

This position will be focusing on hands on testing on ships, test evaluations, and certifications. They will be doing emissions testing using oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, and work to identify issues and provide solutions in a team environment.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Active or interim Secret DoD clearance
- 1+ year demonstrated experience (OR school based knowledge for junior role) with electromagnetic environment effects (E3) engineering to include: electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic interference (EMI), EMI/EMC testing & analysis, and use of Radio Frequency (RF) equipment.
- Experience using oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers for hands on testing
- Experience characterizing EMI/EMC issues of fielded systems & field fixes
- Experience analyzing and identifying EMC vulnerabilities of the systems being tested
- Ability to be on site 5 days per week & travel 25-50%. Travel is 2-3 days during the work week to various ports across the country.
