Job Description

The NOC Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the NOC, completion of NOC functions, such as the active and passive monitoring of ITS infrastructure, troubleshooting and triage of presented issues, as well as the proper escalation of incidents to ensure resolution.



Maintain the network operations for all VDOT and GDOT assets by using a resourcefulness aptitude to resolve verified outages.

Troubleshoot and identify the location of network outages by using network monitoring software such as SolarWinds to ensure speedy network recovery.

Acted as an integrated service desk for Skyline & Qfree, insuring the availability of all VDOT platforms & asset management systems.

Initiating corrective actions based on severity of service interruption while adhering to company SLA's.

Troubleshooting and administrating Cisco AnyConnect VPN to hundreds of users.

Configure network devices and administer user and computer accounts in an Active Directory Domain environment.

Create and update documentation of configuration and troubleshooting procedures to facilitate other team members.

Administer access, permissions and privileges for on-site resources and cloud services such as CalemEAM.

Assisted in developing internal standards, such as SOPs, and maintaining documentation for future training.

Required Skills & Experience

* 1-2 years of network or NOC experience

* Effective interpersonal and intrapersonal communications skills

* Experience working in a 24x7 support function

* Able to work outside of standard hours, including rotating weekends

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

The NOC Technician staff will support a 4 x 10-hour shift approach. This approach will foster shift turnover discussions, team building, and allow for easier staff meetings. Must be flexible with shifts- day, night, and weekends.
