Job Description

The Solar Consulting Engineer reports to the Director -- Construction Projects Solar Department and works cross-functionally with the Department's Managers and a diverse group of stakeholders, including Project Managers, Project Leaders, and Engineers. The Solar Consulting Engineer supports new 100+ MW large utility scale solar projects as well as 1 -- 3 MW ground mounted solar projects connected into the distribution system. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, comfortable wearing many hats, managing multiple projects concurrently and work effectively in a highly collaborative environment. Looking for individuals who are talented and highly regarded within the industry, detail-oriented and have demonstrated the ability to work back from core customer needs. Consistently manages stakeholder expectations and multiple work scopes efficiently with high level of organization and attention to detail. The ideal candidate for Solar Consulting Engineer is comfortable working with developers, engineers, local officials, real estate professionals, contractors and others external team members from initial site review through EPC contract negotiation and construction.



Responsibilities



* Provide solar technical leadership including product and process through technical writing

* Compose technical writing and interpret solar technical specifications and procedures

* Maintain project level technical awareness of solar technology

* Provide strategic cost-effective construction means and methods

* Negotiate technical specifications understanding where compromise can be accepted

* Work with technical and non-technical business owners to overcome obstacles

* Manage resources to ensure prompt information transfer and contract adherence

* Program representative at industry organizations, conferences, etc.

* Potential for supervisory role over engineers and other technical resources within Solar Department

* Perform other duties as requested or assigned

Required Skills & Experience

- 15 years related experience leading project engineering duties and/or assisting in project management duties associated with large capital construction projects

- ABET Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil)

- Technical writing, system specifications, and construction specifications

- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices

- Ability to process information quickly and efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* 10 years utility scale solar experience

* Have strong multi-tasking skills

* Knowledge of engineering practices in support of all solar systems

* Knowledge of project management duties including contracting and organizing information for reports,

* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a large task load in a fast-paced environment

* Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to solve complex problems

* Self-motivated, works both independently and collaboratively within a team

* Work with technical and non-technical business owners to overcome obstacles and deliver results
