Job Description
- Put together multi-component packages in the lab (either yourself or through lab techs), check those against some sort of performance in an application, while potentially doing so in front of customers and/or OEMs.
- For the first six months, this individual would be working in the lab formulating chemicals and oils for the Driveline business unit. This could include Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) or, potentially, Electrified Transmission Fluid (ETF) formulation for commercial and personally used vehicles. The role would include analysis and performance testing as well as working closely with the chemists, lab technicians, and other formulators in the division. Eventually, this role would be client facing as well to work with OEMs such as Ford, Tesla, or GM to meet their performance standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- If they do not have a PhD, they must have significant years of experience.
- Formulation specific experience (i.e. -- Chemical synthesis, organic synthesis, and any other forms of wet chemistry, surfactants, interfacial, or colloidal science.)
- Biochemical engineering would not be transferrable.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- 2-5yrs of previous experience working in a commercial environment.
- Ideally, experience bringing a product to market.
- Strong culture fit with Afton, personable and not too technical.
