Job Description
Insight Global is searching for a Network Engineer to support a federal client sitting in Norfolk, VA. As a Network Engineer, you'll work to provide network architecture design and system operational support to other systems, establish requirements, analyze and evaluate technical solutions and architecture designs, perform solutions analyses, remote access connections, cross-domain solutions, network ports, protocols, and services configurations while meeting current network requirements. Additionally, you will analyze network activity and performance to identify potential network issues and inefficiencies, and develop and implement automated configuration management software solutions, including automated configuration management, software-defined wide-area networking, and Whitebox networking solutions for a reliable network to support global critical missions. You'll collaborate with SMEs in cybersecurity, engineering, quality assurance, and operations to learn the strategic goals and operational needs that shape the network requirements. You'll then share your expertise during the planning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of the network components. From resolving interoperability issues across platforms, to supporting the acquisition of hardware, you'll put your hardware and software talents to good use. The program is to build a prototype for a 5g network for the navy. They will be completely building the network from the ground up. During the prototype phase it will be a small network supporting about 10-20 test user devices but the goal is to make it a fully operational network that can be integrated on the naval ships for 500+ user devices. The beginning stages will be designing the network so they need someone who can decide what protocols are best to use and understand why they are the right ones to use. After the design they will build and then integrate the network on board the ships.
