Insight Global is looking for a Hands Technician to sit on site at our client's campus in Ashburn, VA. Our client has a large data center that they are currently doubling so there is a ton of room for growth. There is a team of six technicians but most work will be done individually. The candidate will be taking tickets and resolving issues related to cabling or break/fix of hardware and be primarily responsible for responding to Customer Requests within the Service Level Agreement time frame. Any fiber cabling experience or telecommunications experience would be a huge plus. This person must be good with overnight shift and be able to be on call for emergency situations.
Day 2 Day:
* Equipment Rack and Stack
* Cable, terminate, and dress fiber or copper network cabling
* Assist customers with the diagnosis of hardware and software issues on their equipment
* Power cycling of customer equipment
* Perform cabinet/cage audits
* Blade/Card, Memory, Hard Drive, and Transceiver installation or removal
* Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic circuits
* Assist with migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices
* Shipping and Receiving of packages
* Receive, install, and test customer and internal cross connects of copper and fiber optic interconnections
* Provide timely customer and internal updates using a computer-based ticketing system
* 1+ years of experience in Telecommunications or IT related field OR associates in IT OR have a Network +, A+ or security + certification OR 1 + years as a data center tech
* Basic understanding of telecom structured cabling standards
* Understanding of network device deployment
* Ability to communicate written and verbally
* Work flexible shift schedules
* Provide rotational on-call coverage
* Vaccinated
* Reliable car to get to work
* If they have a combination of data center experience and any certification or degree in IT
* Use of industry standard test equipment
* CompTIA A+ / Net + Certification
* Knowledge of Telcordia installation standards
* General knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory
* Understanding of Building Management System (BMS) and Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS)
* Knowledge of inventory control
* Microsoft Office Suite (Access, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Explorer) and or/equivalents
