Job Description

The Contracts Officer is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of sponsored research and project-related agreements with external partners, including industry, state, and federal government agencies, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. This role supports faculty in securing and managing extramural funding, ensures institutional compliance with legal, ethical, and financial requirements, and strengthens the organization's partnerships with sponsors. The position also leads sponsored project activity reporting and serves as a key campus resource for sponsored contracts administration. This is a full-time role located onsite in Salt Lake City.

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s degree
-Strong legal background or adjacent experience
-Experience working with federal or private funding agencies on grants, contracts, or other agreements.
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in high-pressure environments.
-Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
-Experience with negotiating, issue identification, risk mitigation, contract drafting (etc.) (typically comes from people with some legal background)
