This individual will help the technical vision and hands-on development of our higher education client's data warehouse and data pipelines, while partnering closely with peers across data governance, official reporting, and decision support to enable timely, accurate, and actionable insights. The role requires technical excellence, collaborative leadership, and a deep understanding of the unique data needs in higher education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Deep expertise in data architecture, warehouse modeling (e.g., star schema), and pipeline orchestration.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, and tools such as Wherescape, Airflow, and Git.
Familiarity with SLCCs current technology stack: Oracle 19c, Cognos, Tableau, AWS/GCP.
Experience embedding QA and validation logic in data pipelines.
Strong systems thinking to link architecture with reporting, compliance, and user needs.
Outstanding communication skills to translate complex architectures for varied stakeholders.
Ability to mentor and manage junior engineers; lead technical code reviews and design sessions.
Ability to work and collaborate with individuals with diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and skills.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field.
5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics infrastructure, or similar role.
Experience with WhereScapre Red or similar tools ex.) Airflow, Snowflake, other modern tools
Experience in a data warehouse with data integration tools.
Proficiency with database modeling.
Masters degree in a related field.
Experience in higher education data systems (e.g., Banner).
Familiarity with federal and state reporting standards in higher education (e.g., USHE).
Experience with on-prem to cloud planning or hybrid data architecture design.
