Day to day:
One of our largest education clients in the Salt Lake City, Utah area is looking for a Sr. AWS Cloud Engineer to join their finance team. This individual will be integral to maintaining and building the most important core systems. This Individuals primary responsibilities are to enhance the University's systems and services, and to assist wherever necessary with systems administration and support. The majority of work will be supporting legacy systems in the cloud, maintaining/ updating security systems and set up/configure rules in AWS. This position calls for a fast learner that can contribute quickly to the success of the mission, and a thinker with vision with an eagerness to excel. Success in this role requires exceptional problem-solving skills with any issues that may come up with a databases or third-party applications they interact with. We would love to have someone that comes from a smaller environment that has worn many hats.
Required Skills & Experience
Must Haves:
* 5+ years' experience in Cloud engineering/DevOps
* Hands on experience with Experience with AWS CloudFormation, AWS Developer tools( Code pipeline, code deploy), AWS ECS with Fargate, S3, CloudFront
* Expertise and recent experience in Linux and maintaining Linux servers
* Experience with Lambdas, Bash Scripting, containerization and Docker
* Servers that provide standard services such as DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, Exchange and FTP Services
* Experience in Docker containerization of spring boot java applications
* Must have the ability to diagnose and remedy serious server related problems and failures promptly and effectively
* Ability and willingness to understand and give direction to both software engineers and cloud engineers (Majority of team is on the cloud engineering side)
* Proven experience in the following areas: Amazon Web Services (AWS), GIT, and SQL
* AWS Certifications (NEED either 2 associate certs or 1 professional level cert to get access to system)
* Must be someone who is a self-starter and passionate about the work they do
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
* Oracle Database Experience (Exp. interacting with a system that is dependent upon an oracle database would be great!)
* Red Hat experience or Certifications would be stellar
* Experience with Chef Experience with monitoring tools like New relic or Dynatrace (Preferred)
