Job Description

A Fortune 500 employer is seeking a hands-on Kubernetes Architect to join their Platform Engineering team sitting in Dallas/Plano, TX. This individual will work closely with senior leadership, enterprise architects, and engineering leaders to develop robust cloud-based container solutions.



Responsibilities:

* Make decisions and resolve issues regarding strategic products of engineering teams to meet business objectives

* Oversee engineering and operations to deliver commitments aligned to strategic product priorities

* Consult/collaborate with Agile teams and product managers to drive outcomes

* Directly interact with third-party vendors and technology service providers

* Assist in the management/allocation of people and financial resources for technology engineering

* Proactively monitor capacity, performance, and cost metrics to ensure quality

* Identify opportunities for improvement, explore new technologies and solutions to push our capabilities forward

Required Skills & Experience

* 8+ years of overall experience in IT

* 5+ years of experience designing, building, securing, and managing Kubernetes on the cloud at scale

* Experience with Kubernetes based platforms such as Rancher, OpenShift, etc.

* Hands-on experience with container traffic management tools such as Istio, Nginx, etc.

* Experience with microservices architecture and messaging/data streaming technologies such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, etc.

* Strong background working with public Cloud platforms (Azure preferred)

* Proficient in modern DevOps programming languages such as Python or Golang

* Experience with infrastructure automation technologies such as Terraform, Docker Compose, GitOps

* Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, DataDog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.

* Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

* Ability to communicate and develop partnership-oriented relationships with business executives and functional leaders

* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment focusing on timeliness, documentation, communications with peers and business users alike

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKD)

* Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS)
