Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Service Technician IV (Senior Lead Controls Technician) for a top building automation and HVAC solutions client. This candidate will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for advanced diagnostics, system optimization, BAS integrations, and complex network troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will bring deep controls expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to work directly with customers, IT teams, and field technicians to resolve critical system issues while driving operational excellence across complex building automation environments.

Plusses:
Experience with multiple major BAS platforms and open-protocol systems
Advanced Niagara experience
Building automation, controls programming, or networking certifications
Experience leading projects or serving as a senior technical resource
Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts within BAS environments
Day-to-Day:
Lead advanced troubleshooting and repair of complex building automation systems
Diagnose and resolve programming, communication, and integration issues
Optimize control sequences, graphics, databases, and workstation configurations
Execute firmware, software, and system upgrades
Troubleshoot advanced network architecture and BAS communication problems
Coordinate directly with customer IT teams regarding networking and connectivity
Lead integrations with third-party equipment and enterprise platforms
Serve as the technical lead on complex service calls and small projects
Act as an escalation resource for high-level technical issues
Interface directly with facility managers, engineers, and building owners
Conduct inspections, testing, and performance verification activities
Provide customer training and technical guidance
Mentor technicians and provide hands-on technical training
Promote safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience

8-12 years of building automation or controls service experience
Advanced BAS troubleshooting, programming modification, integration, and diagnostics experience
Strong IP networking and BAS communications background
Experience coordinating with customer IT departments
HVAC mechanical systems and control strategy expertise
Proven leadership experience supporting technicians in the field
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Ability to independently manage complex service situations
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Ability to pass background and pre-employment screening
