Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Controls Service Technician III for a top building automation and HVAC solutions client. This candidate will independently troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building automation systems across commercial facilities while supporting programming modifications, system upgrades, and network connectivity initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong controls background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to diagnose and resolve BAS and HVAC control issues while continuing to grow their technical expertise within a collaborative service organization.
Day-to-Day:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair building automation systems and HVAC equipment
Investigate alarms, communication issues, and system performance problems
Modify control programming, graphics, and databases
Assist with firmware, software, workstation, and controller upgrades
Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service work
Troubleshoot BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based communications
Configure controllers, workstations, and field devices
Communicate with building operators and facility personnel
Perform testing and verify system performance
Provide customer training on BAS features and operation
Complete service reports, work orders, and technical documentation
Support senior technicians on complex troubleshooting efforts
Mentor junior technicians and promote team collaboration

Required Skills & Experience
3-6 years of building automation or controls service experience
Experience troubleshooting BAS systems and HVAC control sequences
Working knowledge of IP networking and BAS communications
Experience modifying control programs and graphics
Ability to work independently on most service calls
Strong customer service and communication skills
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Ability to pass background and pre-employment screening
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with multiple building automation platforms
Niagara experience or similar open-platform controls experience
Experience supporting system upgrades and controller replacements
Experience with BAS and mechanical equipment integrations
Controls-related technical certifications or manufacturer training
