Job Description

This Environmental Department Manager will lead and oversee a team of 14 environmental professionals, balancing operational leadership, client relationships, and project execution across a diverse portfolio of environmental services. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating site investigations, environmental testing, remediation efforts, and due diligence projects while ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and regulatory compliance are effectively managed. The manager will provide strategic direction for the department, support business development efforts, oversee staff development and workload planning, and serve as a key point of contact for clients. Success in this role requires strong leadership, the ability to manage competing priorities, make sound business and risk management decisions, and drive the successful delivery of projects ranging from small engagements to multi-million-dollar programs.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.
8-10+ years of environmental consulting, engineering, geology, or related industry experience.
3-5+ years of supervisory/management experience
Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance frameworks, (preferred experience working with agencies such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), and Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP))
Demonstrated experience managing environmental projects and/or project portfolios with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and client deliverables
Proven ability to manage competing priorities while effectively partnering with internal stakeholders, external clients, and regulatory agencies
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to navigate challenging conversations and drive team performance
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Oracle
Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
Master’s degree or PhD
Experience with large environmental permitting projects (environmental impact statements)
