About the Opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriter to evaluate and structure small business loan requests while supporting the financial success of business owners. This role is responsible for analyzing loan applications, assessing risk, maintaining compliance documentation, and collaborating with lending teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate has strong financial analysis skills, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for helping small businesses grow.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and underwrite small business loan applications, including repayment ability, collateral evaluation, credit assessment, and eligibility review.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to lending and underwriting best practices.
Partner with loan officers and applicants to address underwriting questions and loan structure recommendations.
Prepare underwriting summaries and supporting analyses for loan approval recommendations.
Communicate loan decisions, including approval terms or declination rationale.
Identify opportunities to strengthen applications and mitigate risk.
Ensure all supporting documentation is collected, verified, and maintained in compliance with lending requirements.
Collaborate with lending and loan administration teams to provide outstanding service to clients.

Required Skills & Experience
Experience in financial analysis; small business or consumer lending experience preferred.
Understanding of finance and basic accounting principles.
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required.
