Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Custom Applications Manager to lead a large, multi-layered engineering organization supporting custom financial applications. This individual will oversee 5–6 technical leads (each managing teams of 3–12 engineers) and be responsible for driving overall strategy, delivery, and alignment across multiple teams. This is a highly business-facing role focused on leadership, team oversight, and solution direction, partnering closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable application strategies. The manager will guide architectural decisions across Python and Java environments, support modernization efforts including agentic/AI-driven initiatives, and ensure quality, performance, and execution across all workstreams. The ideal candidate has strong experience leading large, complex teams, influencing both technical and business leaders, and fostering a high-performing, accountable engineering organization. Compensation: $75–$95/hr depending on experience.

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering
• Proven experience managing large, layered engineering teams (managing managers/tech leads)
• Strong hands-on background in Python and Java development
• Experience supporting or building financial systems/applications
• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on development with high-level architecture and solutioning
• Experience working in a business-facing role, gathering requirements and driving solutions
• Strong leadership and communication skills—ability to influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with AI/agentic frameworks or modern automation-driven architectures
• Background in enterprise-scale application environments
• Experience driving application modernization initiatives
