Job Description
Our EPC client is seeking a Instrumentation Designer – Industrial Panels to join their team and support quality and inspection activities within their Houston fabrication shop. This role sits on the engineering design team and follows a hybrid schedule (in-office Tuesday–Thursday). The designer will primarily work within nVENT DTM software to support a variety of instrumentation and panel-based projects across three core workstreams:
1. In-House Engineering & Design Projects
• Support full-cycle engineering and design for internal panel and building projects
• Create and develop design packages that are handed off to the production team for fabrication/build
• Collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing to ensure designs are accurate and buildable
• This will be the primary focus area for the role
2. Operations-Driven Design Support
• Partner with the operations group (where Hamilton’s team sits) on more dynamic, field-driven work
• Review partial or pre-existing designs and:
o Complete missing elements
o Validate whether designs will function properly
• Utilize nVent DTM 3D software to:
o Model designs and confirm feasibility
o Perform drag-and-drop component placement and wiring connections
o Reduce manual drafting effort and minimize design errors compared to AutoCAD
3. Client-Provided (Audubon) Design Packages
• Work from externally provided designs and adapt them to meet current build requirements
• Troubleshoot challenges such as:
o Outdated (20+ year old) designs
o Obsolete or unavailable parts
o Incomplete or inconsistent documentation
• Collaborate closely with the shop/production team to develop practical, buildable solutions
• Requires a creative and problem-solving mindset to modernize and execute designs
