Job Description

We are seeking a Traveling Lead Fiber Technician to join a "Tiger Team" that will support the stand-up of new data center fiber installation projects across key markets including Dallas, Phoenix, and Northern Virginia. This individual will play a critical role in launching projects, leading field teams, and ensuring high-quality fiber installations in fast-paced, large-scale data center environments.
This role requires 75–100% travel and strong leadership experience in structured cabling/fiber deployments.

- Provide on-site leadership for large teams of fiber technicians on new data center builds
- Help stand up new projects from early-phase deployment through execution
- Oversee fiber installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting (single-mode & multi-mode)
- Read and interpret prints, schematics, and fiber matrices to guide installation
- Ensure teams are meeting production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements
- Coordinate with PMs, GCs, and client stakeholders on-site
- Perform/oversee testing (OTDR, light source/power meter, EXFO) and ensure proper documentation
- Support training and mentoring of junior technicians
- Assist with material management, site logistics, and daily reporting

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years of fiber optic installation experience in commercial or data center environments
- Prior experience as a Lead Tech, Foreman, or Supervisor managing crews in the field
- Strong understanding of:
-- Fiber pathways, trays, and structured cabling systems
-- Termination (fusion splicing preferred)
-- Fiber testing and troubleshooting (OTDR, etc.)
- Experience working in data centers or hyperscale environments
- Ability to travel 75–100% (weeks/months at a time depending on project lifecycle)
