Job Description

A top oil & gas company is seeking a Construction Representative to support civil early works within its New Energies organization on a major power plant buildout. This individual will be embedded at the project site and play a critical role in serving as the owner’s on-site field lead for heavy civil early works, ensuring EPC contractors execute work safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Chevron standards, schedule, and quality expectations. This role is heavily focused on earthworks and site development activities supporting large-scale power generation / energy infrastructure buildout.
Responsibilities may include:
- Act as the primary field interface between Chevron (owner) and EPC contractors for civil construction activities
- Oversee and monitor contractor execution to ensure alignment with:
○ Approved drawings, specifications, and scope
○ Project schedule milestones
○ Safety and environmental requirements
- Provide day-to-day field oversight of early works, including:
○ Mass grading (cut/fill operations)
○ Site preparation and leveling
○ Temporary construction facilities (trailers, laydown yards, utilities)
○ Access roads and internal haul roads
- Enforce Chevron’s Incident & Injury Free (IIF) safety expectations and stop-work authority as needed
- Coordinate across stakeholders (construction, engineering, project controls, contractors) to resolve field issues in real time
- Track progress and identify risks to schedule, cost, and constructability
- Review contractor work plans, daily reports, and construction sequencing
- Ensure proper site logistics, housekeeping, and worksite safety controls are maintained
- Provide input into field changes, RFIs, and constructability improvements
- Escalate critical issues and provide actionable recommendations to project leadership

Required Skills & Experience

Background coming up through EPC organizations in heavy civil construction (foreman → superintendent → construction manager progression)

5–7+ years serving as a Construction Manager / Superintendent for a heavy civil contractor

Prior experience transitioning into or working with an owner/operator team

Strong hands-on experience in:
○ Mass excavation / grading
○ Soil stabilization and compaction
○ Site development and infrastructure prep
○ Construction logistics and sequencing

Proven ability to manage contractors in the field and hold them accountable to safety, quality, and schedule

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and execution plans

Strong communication and decision-making skills in a fast-paced field environment
