Job Description

: As Tesla’s Manager, Solar Manufacturing Construction, you will lead the full construction lifecycle for Tesla’s next-generation solar manufacturing facilities from ground break through Start of Production. You will own $250M+ in capital expenditure across highly complex, cleanroom-grade manufacturing environments spanning ingot growth, wafer slicing, and photovoltaic cell production lines. Reporting to executive leadership within Tesla’s Infrastructure organization, you will operate at the intersection of construction execution, manufacturing process integration, and organizational leadership, driving decisions that directly shape Tesla’s vertically integrated solar supply chain. This role demands someone who builds fast, thinks in first principles, and delivers facilities that others spend years only planning.

Responsibilities:
• Own the full construction lifecycle for solar manufacturing facilities ($250M+ CAPEX portfolio) from the point of site selection and design coordination through shell construction, cleanroom buildout, process equipment installation, commissioning, and Start of Production readiness
• Build and lead a high-performing construction organization of project managers, field superintendents, and project controls staff capable of delivering multiple concurrent facility builds across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, ultra-high purity (UHP) piping, and cleanroom scopes
• Drive an integrated master schedule aligning civil and structural construction, mechanical and electrical installation, process equipment set, cleanroom validation, and manufacturing ramp timelines into a single cohesive execution plan and hold every stakeholder to it
• Manage general contractors, specialty subcontractors, and self-perform resources across all disciplines including CSA, mechanical, electrical, controls, life safety, process piping, and cleanroom systems, enforcing contract terms and schedule through structured accountability
• Develop and enforce rigorous project controls: baseline schedules, earned value tracking, change management, cash flow forecasting, and clear variance reporting directly to executive leadership
• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Equipment teams to ensure construction sequences support equipment start up requirements and sequencing, cleanroom classifications, contamination control protocols, and process utility specifications
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture across all project sites, deliver projects ahead of schedule and under budget through first-principles cost and schedule analysis

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of construction management experience with demonstrated accountability for $250M+ capital programs in advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, solar, battery, or cleanroom process facility construction
• Deep expertise in cleanroom construction including HVAC, UHP piping, vibration isolation, contamination control, airflow balancing, and cleanroom validation protocols
• Experience managing the full manufacturing facility lifecycle: groundbreak, shell construction, cleanroom buildout, process equipment set, multi-discipline commissioning, and SOP with direct accountability for outcomes at each phase
• Proven ability to simultaneously manage self-perform construction resources and GC/subcontractor execution on the same program, with strong EPC contract administration and change control skills
• Strong proficiency in construction project controls: baseline schedule development, earned value management, cost/schedule variance analysis, and cash flow forecasting across multi-site programs
• Experience with solar manufacturing processes (ingot/crystal growth, wire saw wafering, cell processing) or analogous semiconductor, chemical, or advanced manufacturing process flows strongly preferred; experience with high-purity piping, process gas systems, or cleanroom mechanical systems is a significant asset
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred; OSHA 30 certification preferred
