Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Staff Engineer, Hardware System Test for a leading industrial technology client. This role serves as the system-level testing authority, ensuring complex hardware products perform reliably as fully integrated systems. The engineer will define validation strategies, influence product quality early in the lifecycle, and collaborate closely across engineering and quality teams to support robust, high-performing product releases.
Day-to-Day:
Define and lead system-level hardware testing and validation strategies
Develop test frameworks for integrated hardware, firmware, and software systems
Create and maintain system integration test plans and coverage matrices
Partner with QA, Firmware, Electronics, and Systems teams on validation
Identify test gaps and implement risk mitigation strategies
Lead system-level troubleshooting and defect resolution
Mentor QA engineers and test technicians
Track and report system-level quality metrics and KPIs

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Computer Engineering (Master’s preferred)
8+ years of experience in hardware system testing or system validation
Strong system-level understanding across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software domains
Experience defining and executing system-level test strategies
Knowledge of validation methodologies, verification practices, and defect management
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Experience with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, USB)
Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing experience
Test automation or scripting experience (Python, LabVIEW, etc.)
Experience with electromechanical or industrial equipment
Familiarity with EMC, UL, safety, and PCI compliance
Experience supporting field issues and feeding learnings back into validation
Exposure to NPI, stage-gate, DFMEA, and formal design reviews
