Manufacturing Application Engineer

Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking an Applications Engineer for a top industrial power and manufacturing client. This individual will own the front-end technical development for custom walk-in diesel generator enclosure projects, translating customer requirements and specifications into clear, accurate submittal packages. Sitting at the intersection of sales, engineering, and manufacturing, this role plays a critical part in defining project scope, ensuring code compliance, and setting up projects for smooth execution and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working hands-on in a manufacturing-driven environment.


Day-to-Day:
• Review customer RFQs, specifications, and drawings for custom generator enclosure projects
• Develop complete customer submittal packages, including layouts, narratives, and BOMs
• Create and revise general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Write compliance narratives addressing applicable codes and standards
• Select major components and develop preliminary BOMs
• Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and manufacturing teams
• Identify technical risks, gaps, or conflicts early and drive resolution
• Coordinate submittal revisions through customer review and approval cycles
• Support handoff from approved submittals to detailed design and production
Maintain internal standards for submittal quality, consistency, and document control

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Application Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Project Engineer supporting custom-engineered products
Experience developing technical submittal packages for customer/EOR approval
Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering or equivalent industry experience

• Working knowledge of diesel generator systems or power generation equipment
• Experience with industrial enclosures, shelters, or containerized systems
• Familiarity with HVAC, cooling, or ventilation systems
• Experience packaging mechanical or electrical equipment (skids, modules, OEM assemblies)
• Exposure to structural frames supporting mechanical/electrical components
• Experience with code-driven designs and compliance documentation
• Background in pumps, compressors, filtration, or fluid handling systems
Experience producing approval drawings and industrial equipment submittals
